What makes this pentest lab unique is that it is a fully-fledged, realistic environment — the isolated network of the fictitious Dubius Payment Ltd. It’s built to let you gain hands-on experience, apply newly learned techniques, and continuously improve your skills. The environment mirrors a real corporate setup (networks, web apps, APIs, backend services, and realistic data) and is assigned exclusively to you for the duration of your access — there’s no sharing with other participants.
You’ll receive a personal lab license and can schedule the lab start date directly in our portal. Once started, the lab is available 24/7 for 60 days, so you decide when and how intensively to work. To boost realism, we populated the environment with a cast of “Dubius Payment Ltd.” employees: social profiles, inter-employee relationships, and an intriguing background story create authentic human attack surfaces and investigative leads. Immerse yourself in the scenario, follow the breadcrumbs, and practice end-to-end pentesting in a safe, private training ground.

Getting started with your Pentest Training Lab is simple and flexible. After purchasing the course you can freely choose your start date and gain easy access to the complete lab environment via OpenVPN — credentials and configuration are provided in your portal.
Required Know-how
No specific training or formal qualification is required to hack in the Pentest Training Lab. However, the lab is intended for individuals with solid theoretical and practical IT experience — such as system administrators, software developers, or computer science students nearing graduation.
To ensure a successful experience, the following prior knowledge is strongly recommended:
- Confident use of Linux and Windows operating systems
- Familiarity with basic shell and terminal commands
- Understanding of how networks and services operate:
- ISO/OSI reference model
- TCP/IP and UDP
- SSH, web servers, FTP servers
- Programming fundamentals
- Experience with scripting languages (e.g., Python)
- Basic understanding of compiling C code
- Understanding of IT security controls and firewall concepts
Requirements
Of course, you need a computer to perform penetration tests at the network and application level. The machine should run Linux (e.g., Debian, Ubuntu, Kali Linux); running Linux in a virtual machine (e.g., VirtualBox) is also fine. We also recommend a good stable internet connection.
To connect to our lab you must install the open-source OpenVPN client. If you operate behind a firewall that restricts outbound traffic (for example, in a corporate network), you may need to allow a specific TCP port for the VPN. We will provide the required port number and the VPN configuration file in your portal. For technical reasons, the lab connection does not use OpenVPN’s default port.
